MARY IMMACULATE PARISH SPECIAL SCHOOL INC.

History of MIPSS

Mary Immaculate Parish Special School started as a day care center during the term of Rev. Fr. Colin Apap and Rev. Fr. Victor Agius, the first parish priest and assistant parish priest of Mary Immaculate Parish, respectively. The first batch of MIPSS Grade 6 graduates was in the year 1990. Some of the teachers who handled the classes were Mrs. Maria Bella V. Hernandez, Mrs. Marcelina Ramos, and Mrs. Susie Manuel who used to be public school teachers in Manila.

In 1989, Mrs. Lydia Pabalan accepted the challenge to fulfill the vision of the parish in educating not only the regular students but also students with special needs paving the way for the beginning of special education at MIPSS.

In 1991, Fr. Fidel G. Fabile, Mrs. Valeria B. Manguba, and Mrs. Maria Bella V. Hernandez took charge of the school as appointed by Rev. Fr. Pierino Rogliardi. They were assigned as the Executive Director, Administrator, and Principal, respectively.

In 1994, the High School Department was opened to the community. In school year 2002-2003, a three-story building with twelve classrooms was constructed for the elementary level. Aside from the three-story building, the library was also improved.

Presently, Mary Immaculate Parish Special School has added other facilities such as computer laboratories, High School library, separate faculty rooms for Elementary, Junior High School and Senior High School, covered court also known as the MIPSS quadrangle, and a lot more.

It is a fact that MIPSS, with its rigorous training and formation, has gone through a lot of challenges and changes. With the passing of time, it has helped both students and teachers. Looking at MIPSS now, our school founders must have been proud and happy of what we have accomplished today.
